The Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS) has announced a call for the submission of abstracts as it prepares to host its 5th Annual Scientific Conference in January 2024.

With the theme, Transdisciplinary Research as Catalyst for Nigeria’s Sustainable Development, the academy has extended calls to scientists, students, and other stakeholders to submit abstracts of original research in any of its subthemes.

Highlighting the topics in the announcement posted to this effect on its social media platforms, the academy noted that one of the subthemes – Emerging Technologies in Emergency Preparedness and Response – will explore research that illustrates emerging technologies as tools for preparing, and responding to emergency situations such as flooding, other natural disasters, public health emergencies etc.

Another subtheme titled, Transdisciplinary Research for Healthcare in Nigeria, will explore transdisciplinary science research, including one-health research, with implications for healthcare delivery, drug policy, drug security, and drug discovery.

It also hinted that one of the subthemes – Smart Cities and Emerging Technologies – will look at research that showcases the potentials of emerging technologies for revolutionizing Nigeria’s transportation, manufacturing, housing, security, infrastructure, and data management, while another subtheme – Smart Agriculture and Food Security – will explore transdisciplinary research that addresses climate change and provides solutions for sustainable food security in Nigeria.

The confab is scheduled to hold on the 23rd and 24th January 2024.
