Commences 15th Biannual Scientific Conference, General Assembly in Abuja

The 15th Biannual Scientific Conference and General Assembly of the African Academy of Sciences (AASS) opens on Monday in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

According to the Local Organising committee, this year’s meeting with the theme “Empowering and Advancing Africa’s Scientific Enterprise”, have been expanded to involve partners and policy holders with the key objective to rebrand the academy to enhance its impact in Africa’s development.

In welcome remark by the Secretary General of AAS, Professor Friday Okonofua, AAS, said, “Over the next four days, we have an exciting programme that includes panel discussions, parallel sessions, and keynote addresses-all carefully designed to promote collaboration, inspire knowledge-sharing, and drive innovation.”

While encouraging participants to actively engage during the meeting, Prof Okonfua urged them to freely share insights, and seize this opportunity to connect with colleagues and peers.

“As we embark on this journey together, I extend my sincere thanks once again for your presence and involvement. Let us work collectively to make this conference a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on the scientific enterprise in Africa and beyond,” he stated.
