Nigerian tech innovator Azeez Saheed has launched YarnGPT, a revolutionary Text-to-Speech (TTS) model designed to bring Nigerian-accented English to the forefront of Artificial Intelligence.

This cutting-edge development aims to reshape how AI interacts with users in Nigeria, ensuring a more inclusive and culturally relevant experience for Nigerian audiences.

YarnGPT’s breakthrough lies in its ability to accurately replicate Nigerian accents, offering a more authentic and natural interaction with technology.

For years, TTS systems have often struggled to capture the nuances of local accents, limiting their accessibility for diverse communities.

Saheed’s innovation addresses this gap, making AI technology more relatable and approachable for Nigerians, while also showcasing the country’s unique linguistic diversity on the global stage.

The launch of YarnGPT has garnered significant attention, with experts hailing it as a major step forward in making AI more inclusive.

By reflecting the authentic voice of Nigerian users, the model ensures that the technology feels more personal and culturally connected, a feature that is often overlooked in global AI advancements.

In response to the launch, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) expressed its pride in supporting Nigerian innovators like Azeez Saheed.

“At NOA, we take immense pride in celebrating Nigerian excellence. The launch of YarnGPT is not only a testament to Azeez’s brilliance but also a reflection of the innovative spirit that thrives within Nigeria’s tech community,” a representative from NOA said.

“Supporting local innovators is a key part of our mission, and we are excited to see this technology make waves globally.”
