Prof. Anthony Okoh is a distinguished microbiologist and a leading figure in the field of microbial water quality research.
As the Director of the SAMRC Microbial Water Quality Monitoring Centre at the University of Fort Hare in South Africa, his pioneering work has made significant contributions to both public health and environmental sustainability.
With an academic career spanning several decades, Prof. Okoh has authored over 500 journal articles, making him one of the most prolific researchers in his field.
His research, which focuses on microbial contamination in water, addresses critical global challenges, particularly in ensuring clean water for communities.
This extensive body of work has had a profound impact on both the scientific community and public health policies, with his contributions reaching far beyond the confines of his home country.

Beyond his accolades, Prof. Okoh’s leadership roles further highlight his commitment to advancing the microbiology field. From 2011 to 2013, he served as the President of the South African Society for Microbiology, where he worked tirelessly to promote the growth and recognition of microbiology in South Africa.
His leadership and expertise have led to his membership in several prestigious academies, including the Academy of Science of South Africa, and fellowship in six renowned societies, such as the African Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society of Biology, and the Nigerian Academy of Sciences.

His work continues to inspire a global audience, influencing both scientific research and the public health policies that govern water safety around the world.
