Nigeria’s Drug Agency Uncovers Business Revalidating Products Expiry Dates

Nigeria’s food and drug regulatory agency, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a business outlet that has been engaged in the alteration of the expiry dates.

The business premises, reportedly owned by one Mr. Kingsley Awuh which goes by the name Precious Jewel Int’l Nigeria Limited was raided by NAFDAC’s surveillance team at River Plaza within the Trade Fair Complex, in Lagos following an intelligence report and were found to be engaged in revalidating expired cosmetic products.

It was found altering expiration dates on products such as White Xpress Cream, Silka B Cream, Bond’s Magic Powder, Bio-Skin Lightening Lotion, Classic Hair System Fair Spotless Cleanser, Oil-Free Acne Control Oil, and Vaseline Blue Seal.

Packaging materials, sealing machines, and other tools used for this illegal activity were seized from the facility.

The owner who attempted to escape upon the arrival of NAFDAC officers was tracked down and arrested.

NAFDAC, posting on its official X account (formerly twitter) said Mr Awuh will be prosecuted.
