Nigeria is set to achieve a historic milestone by sending the first Nigerian citizen to space.
This was disclosed by Dr. Mathew Adepoju, the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) during a press briefing held in  Abuja on Wednesday.
Adepoju revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Space Exploration and Research Agency (SERA) has been signed by the Federal government to drive this ambitious journey.
According to him, this new development would drive Nigeria into the ranks of nations actively participating in human spaceflight.
Dr. Adepoju said: “This collaboration, which is coming to the country, marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s 25th anniversary of Space Exploration journey and opens new opportunities for scientific research and technological advancement,”.
Adepoju added that the new initiative would bring about technological advancements and encourage young Nigerians to develop an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
He said the project aligns with NASRDA’s long-term goals of leveraging space technology for national development and global competitiveness.
Dr. Adepoju assured the highest standards of safety and professionalism in the execution of the project, drawing on international expertise and best practices
